THE ITALIIAN BETTING SCANDAL

In Rome, Italy, another betting scandal became evident at the end of Serie A 2010/11 season.  The matter was investigated by a leading prosecutor in the country.


Chievo FC and Atlanta FC are the only two teams from Serie A who were involved in the betting scandal.


Chieva FC were fined £69,270 on 3 August 2011 for their part in the caicioscomesse betting scandal that has damaged the image of Serie A Football Association.


The newly-appointed Atlanta FC could face a 7 point deduction if found guilty by the disciplinary committee.


To conclude, there are 18 clubs, including 2 amateur teams and there are 26 people including former players, current players, directors and presidents that are on trial in the courtroom.
